    Approved Car - C4 Cactus Flair 1.2 PureTech

    I recently bought a C4 Cactus Flair PureTech 1.2 110s/s (2019, 37k mileage) from Stellantis in Coventry from their ‘Approved cars’ deals. My experience has been very good overall. I used to own a C4 Cactus Flair (2016) but the car—or its PureTech engine—came with a lot of problems that people may have heard of, especially issues with the cam/wet belt deteriorating and wrecking the engine if left unchecked. Being aware of this issue but still loving the C4 Cactus, I was looking to buy a second-hand one but only if the cam belt had been changed, and only really wanted to buy from a franchised dealership as I don't know much about cars. As it happens, such a car was available at the Coventry dealership. The salesman, Kaz, was very nice on the phone and confirmed that they a C4 Cactus being prepared with a new cam belt being fitted. Kaz then contacted me straight away over Whatsapp and sent me the link to reserve the car for 5 days (£99 fee that gets refunded). The car wasn’t meant to start preparation for another week, but Kaz assured me that they were holding the reservation for me until I had got a chance to come and test drive it. Two days later, on the 13th of Feb, Kaz sent me an update about— - the preparation of the vehicle - the timeframe for getting the cambelt changed - getting further inspection checks done - being serviced - getting a new MOT While waiting, the following week I go on the website to check the car, and I could see anyone was able to reserve it. I rang the dealership for confirmation that the car was still reserved for me, which they confirmed (even if their computers were showing the car as not reserved?). In the meantime the car's price had gone up due to market fluctuation but Kaz confirmed that it would be sold at the price that it was advertised at when reserved, or even lower depending on the live market price, and I did end up paying a little bit less! Fast forward to the 7th of March (so more than 3 weeks later), the car was finally back at the dealership after having all the mechanical work done in the Birmingham workshop. The process took longer than usual because they were waiting on parts being shipped from France to do the work. Kaz kept me updated throughout the process and answered all the questions I sent by text--as he did in person when I finally took it for a 30min test drive. During the test drive the car felt great although it made a little ‘woosh’ sound when going over speed-bumps (not sure whether it had anything to do with suspensions?). I raised my concerns with Kaz who reassured me that the car had undergone detailed checks and that no problems were raised by technicians. The car was also due to have a fresh MOT done and if anything was structurally problematic with the suspensions, it would be flagged up during the inspection. Being reassured with this info, I signed the order form and paid for the car. I went to collect the car with its freshly passed MOT a few days later. Kaz activated for me the free 7-day insurance and sorted out all the paperwork with the V5 logbook and the road tax on my behalf. He sent me all the documents by email. I asked a few questions about what was covered or not by the 6months warranty, and Kaz was very straightforward and mentioned that wear and tear (eg. brakes) was not covered but everything else was pretty much covered, so should I have a problem with the car within the next 6 months it would be covered. He explained how the car had been serviced, what had been changed / replaced (oil, air filter etc.). The next day I nearly had a mini heart attack though, because I opened the car service book and took a look at the inspection check report carried out by Stellantis pre-sale. It listed all the parts of the vehicles which had been checked by the technicians and some costly ones were highlighted in red (eg. front brake pads 90% worn, discs lipped; exhaust centre section front mounting fractured). I wasn’t sure whether the replacement work on these parts had been carried out or not before the sale, so I texted Kaz who reassured me that all the components in the sections highlighted in red in the inspection report had been replaced. Everything that was listed in yellow was advisory and was there for me to keep an eye on (eg. changing brake fluid). The inspection report is very detailed and thorough (3 pages long), and you get a lot of useful information. Kaz also asked the technician what specific oil I needed to use to top up the engine and sent me all the information on Whatsapp. Overall, it was a great experience for a novice like me. Kaz was very welcoming, available and informative, keeping me regularly updated with the different timeframes. If you are looking for an ‘approved car’ at the Coventry dealer, you will get a second-hand car which has been thoroughly checked and prepared to high standards for its owner.

    Welcomed warmly and after introductions, a warm cup of coffee and a chat, we were shown the variety of cars we were interested in. After sitting in a couple we took a car for a test drive. We were then shown our options and different prices and agreed on what we wanted. No fuss, no hard sell, a pleasant experience.

    Been using stellantis and you, Peugeot for the last 6 years, always great customer service, from point of sale David, always keeps in touch, checking still happy with purchase. The team book the car in, then mot, service etc in the hands of the workshop, Dean and his team are always helpful and very efficient, work carried out to a great standard. If any work is carried out, Dean explains the reasons and what work has been undertaken in layman's terms, so you fully understand.
